Robert Burns    Poet, (1759-1796).

Welcome to HSON

(Haggis Society of  Norway)

HSON was founded 21 years ago. Some friends studied in Glasgow and thereby got the taste of Haggis. It should be pointed out that the whisky that goes with it, and that Burns have some very nice poems, probably had something to do with the aquired taste! Bringing home Haggis one christmas holiday started the later HSON. As the years passed by Robert Burns has been a dear knowledge to us all. We are currently 15 guys that hosts Burns Night. Our 10'th anniversary took us to Scotland to take part in the real thing. We also visited Glengoyne destillery on our way to Loch Lomond and the company of the Welly Boys that hosted the supper  We Had a wonderful trip!
In 1997 we where granted memebership in Burns Federation, a membership that has only one other memeber here in Norway, the Caledonian Society. For the first time a piper was present, these two events made Burns supper '97 a memorable year in the HSON book. Haggis is supplied by MacSween in Edinburgh, whisky is up to each member to decide, BUT it has to be Single Malt Whisky! Low, high or isle, does not matter. Over the years there has been a lot of superb whisky to sample. . In 1999 we had our 15.th. anniversary and again HSON headed for Scotland. This time to visit Burns cottages and to celebrate the true scottish way!
In 2004 we headed for Scotland again to celebrate the  20th. annivarsary. The barell of whisky in Campbeltown was also visited.

Our 2005 Burns supper was held in Nissdal, Telemark. See the news paper  story here.  (sorry, only in Norwegian)
