June 94 I went hunting inSouth
Africa. The first week was spendt in a area called Great Karoo. This
is a huge mountian platau, 12-1300 meters above sea level. With peaks reaching
a lot higher. Most of these peaks was flat on the top, like a table. The
first 3 days we had hard wind and snow! It was 2-3C. below zero. Good ting,
we where used to it. Very much like a Norwegian hunting season!
Up there we hunted Wildebeest, Oryx, Blesbok,
Springbok and several other antelopes like Klipspringer and so on.
The second week was spendt in an area near Kirkwood
Here it was considerably warmer. We hunted Impala, Bushbuck, Grysbuck,
a very tiny antelope, and of cause the very sought after Kudu. This majestetic
animal with its curled horns was very hard to find. We saw a lot of females
and small bucks but not many large males.
It was an experience of a liftetime beeing in
South Africa. Sitting at the shore in Port Elisabeth looking at the dolphines
play in the ocean or driving thru the Karoo with all it's animals and birds.
And birds there where a lot of, in all colors and sizes.
